If you would like to generate a system report summarizing information about the hardware components installed your Mac, this short guide will help you to do so.
N.B. This tip applies to most, if not all Mac and MacBook models.
How To Find System Information in OS X El Capitan
Click on the Apple menu > About this Mac and click on More info. Here, you will find all the information your require about your hardware configuration.
The Overview tab will give you information about the processor, memory, and graphics card installed on your Mac, as well as the serial number and software version (OS X).
The Storage tab will give you an overview of how your HDD is being used (how much space is being occupied by apps, media content, operating syste, backups...).
The Memory tab will give you information about how much RAM is installed on your Mac, the number of RAM slots used, and instructions on how to upgrade your memory.
To view information about the other components installed on your Mac (such as the sound card, USB, or network adapter), head back to the Overview tab and click on the System Report button.
