Samsung's curved Galaxy Note Edge will not be coming to the UK at launch, retailer Clove has revealed. In a blog post on the company's website, the retailer announced that it had heard from distribution channels that the Note Edge would be missing both the UK and the majority of European countries when Samsung eventually decides to launch the phone.
It's currently unknown when Samsung will release the phone, but Clove said that "there will not be UK stock available" when the Edge finally launches. However, it said that it will endeavour to import the device from elsewhere so UK customers can still get their hands on it.
" For those customers that are interested in purchasing the Note Edge, we will look to source non-UK stock," Clove stated. "This means that, if possible, we will purchase the stock intended for one of the countries where the Samsung Galaxy Note Edge is due to launch."
Clove also said it had handsets on pre-order but could not confirm the price. It assured customers would not be charged if they place an order at this time. Once the price has been confirmed, Clove said it would contact customers to confirm whether they would like to proceed with their purchase.
A Samsung spokesperson has since told Expert Reviews that, "The Note Edge will be released in selected markets and UK availability will be confirmed in due course."
The Galaxy Note Edge was announced just a few weeks ago at IFA 2014 and has a 5.6in 2,560x1,440 resolution display with a unique curved edge along one side of the screen. It has almost identical specs to the Galaxy Note 4, so it will be powered by a quad-core 2.7GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 processor and 3GB of RAM and will come with 32GB of on-board storage. There's also a 16-megapixel camera on the back and has a built-in heart rate monitor and fingerprint sensor.
On the upside, Clove were able to confirm that Samsung's Galaxy Note 4 will cost £575 SIM-free inc VAT with the first shipment of stock due on 13th October. This means we won't have to wait long at all before we can get our hands on Samsung's latest flagship phablet.
