EE is kickstarting drizzly October with massive freebies on selected pay-monthly Sony Xperia contracts. Until 4 November, savvy shoppers can pick up a free PlayStation bundle with a brand-new Sony Xperia 1, 10 or L3 handset on a 10GB pay monthly tariff or higher. Bargain.

After a two-week cooling period, customers can choose between a 500GB PS4 console complete with two controllers and PlayStation Plus (worth £314.98), or a PlayStation VR Starter Pack (worth £259.99) – an EE exclusive. You have until 16 December to decide which gift and register your details.

But which phone is best for you? It’s only polite to start with Sony’s flagship smartphone, the Xperia 1. In our four-star review , we applauded the devices stunning triple camera, rapid performance and lavish 4K screen with an impressive 21:9 ratio – which is perfect for a Netflix binge. If you’re thinking of splashing out, EE’s tariffs for the top-end smartphone start at £64 per month with no upfront fee.

Another option is the Xperia L3 : it might be the cheapest of the three, but no less mighty. We were impressed with its high-end design, recent dual-camera makeover and good-looking screen (although the Xperia 1 wins on the display front). Again, there’s no upfront fee for the 10GB tariff, and it’ll only set you back £28 per month. That leaves you extra cash to spend on a bigger data allowance.

Finally, there’s the Xperia 10 . EE’s 10GB tariff, which costs £34 per month with no upfront fee, will buy you a mid-range device with a stylish 21:9 screen and decent camera.
