Dell vs HP [2022 Comparison]
Purchasing a new laptop can be a challenging task as there are numerous models to select from. Namely, HP and Dell are two brands that are market leaders, and both offer high-quality products.
Nonetheless, if you’re searching for a gaming laptop, Dell is the way to go. And on the other hand, HP is ideal for daily use because of its battery life. These laptop brands adapt to your current needs and standards and make your experience more enjoyable. So, let’s see which company wins in this Dell vs HP comparison.
Dell vs HP – Company History
Dell Inc., previously PC’s Limited (1984 – 1988) and Dell Computer Corporation (1988 – 2003), is a multinational corporation that designs, develops, and produces Dell computers (PC’s) and other computer-related items. The company is one of the world’s largest PC manufacturers. Dell’s headquarters are in Round Rock, Texas. The firm, formerly known as PC’s Limited, was formed by Michael Dell, a student at the University of Texas in Austin.
Bill Hewlett and Dave Packard formed HP (Hewlett Packard) in 1939. Their initial product was an audio oscillator, and Walt Disney was one of their first clients. Disney used the oscillator to test sound equipment in the twelve specially equipped theatres showing Fantasia in 1940. In 1966, HP entered the computer industry with the HP 2100 Hewlett Packard computers. It was created to control HP’s impressive list of test and measurement equipment.
Dell vs HP Laptops – Design
Although many individuals don’t find Dell laptops physically appealing, many people like their simple design. Therefore, the Dell laptop models (XPS series) stick to the same strong and simple design, proven popular with the Lenovo ThinkPad.
As a result, today’s users want a combination of design and power, with a stronger focus on power. However, Dell also has some pretty good alternative models, like the Inspiron range, which is worth looking at if you want something stylish and simple to use.
Hewlett Packard laptops are pretty standard in terms of design – they don’t provide anything incredibly unique in contrast to what you can find on the market. However, they certainly offer several appealing models, and the big shape of their trackpad makes it comfortable to operate.
The HP laptops usually have a plain black or Chrome style. Although they are simple, they are highly effective if you look for budget laptops for professional use. So, whether you want a 2-in-1 or a regular laptop, HP has a selection of designs to select from.
HP and Dell Laptops – Components
Components are a significant area of focus for Dell. When producing its devices, the firm employs high-quality and functional parts. Dell manufactures notebook laptops ranging from low-cost to high-end models. As a result, the company uses a variety of CPUs, including Intel and AMD. Dual-core CPUs are commonly found in low-cost budget laptops. However, Dell also prefers quad-core CPUs in higher-priced best performing laptops.
Dell computers now come with at least 8GB of RAM and a quad-core CPU. As a result, they provide consistently good performance across the field. In addition, most new Dell laptops use Intel Core i7 CPUs rather than Core i5 processors in the latest versions.
If we’re talking about the HP brand build quality, it’s fair to say that HP ranks slightly below Dell across the board. Although they produce some of the best-performing laptops, they are not entirely on the same level as Dell laptops.
Hewlett Packard laptops use both AMD and Intel CPUs, and their speeds are great. But, of course, the components used in cheaper laptops and high-end laptops differ. In low-cost models, HP uses an Intel HD graphic processor. HP also uses NVIDIA graphics processors and the newest generation Intel CPUs in their more demanding gaming laptops. It enables you to achieve the best performance.
Dell laptops have the upper hand when it comes to components like the CPU and memory capacity. If we compare HP’s computers with similar features, Dell’s CPUs are quicker and of higher quality. However, HP continues to produce durable devices, which indicates that they will have even better batteries.
Laptop Battery
Dell laptops are, on average, quite similar to those of the majority of other premium brands when it comes to battery and charging. A full charge will most likely provide you with 7-8 hours of battery life. Of course, if you choose a premium model, such as one from the Dell XPS series, you can get more than this. However, because many of their designs feature a high resolution and, in some cases, a touch screen, battery life might suffer as a result.
On the other hand, customers buy HP laptops because of their long laptop battery life. It has a maximum duration of 12 hours. Furthermore, HP favours 3-cell and 4-cell batteries, both of which perform admirably. That means that even for an extended period of everyday usage, the battery should last around 2 to 4 years. However, some users have reported that their HP laptop battery became weaker before this time.
Best Display
Combining the Dell display with an integrated graphics card gives a fantastic viewing experience. They also specialise in monitors, most likely contributing to their focus on the best display quality.
Dell also offers laptops with screen sizes ranging from 11 to 17 inches. However, not all low-cost laptops are full HD. However, the majority of the more powerful and more costly laptops are full HD. Furthermore, the best Dell laptops have a 4K resolution.
With Hewlett Packard laptops, you can select from a variety of screen sizes. They range in size from 13 to 17+ inches. The pricing also determines the screen resolution. The greater the screen resolution, the higher the price of the laptop.
Durability
Dell is a good option for individuals searching for a long-lasting laptop. Most Dell laptops come with a comprehensive warranty along with excellent customer support, but this is usually unnecessary for most users.
On the flip side, HP gets some concerns about durability. There are several reports online from people purchasing an HP laptop and having it crash within the first year or two. However, most of the customers are satisfied with Hewlett Packard laptops for everyday use.
Performance
Dell has had some of the best performing laptops on the market for quite some time. While they never quite reach the highest level of client satisfaction, they are consistently above average in performance. In addition, Dell laptop quality is high due to faster processors and more RAM than some less expensive competitors. In general, they are an excellent choice for budget laptops because many of their models are focused on maximum performance at a lower cost.
The performance of higher-end HP laptops is excellent. For example, if we evaluate the HP Envy and Spectre lines, they both perform outstandingly over time. However, HP has a problem with its lower-end models, which are overpriced for the specs and more likely to break. As a result, while HP produces some of the best laptops, they also have some of the worst.
Heating
Dell laptops pay close attention to ventilation to ensure that the laptop does not overheat. HP laptops, on the other hand, heat considerably faster than the former. A cooling fan is not usually required with Dell computers; however, it is always needed with HP laptops.
Dell vs HP – Innovation
One of the most critical elements in the Dell vs HP comparison is innovation, and Dell leads in this category. They are constantly working on new technology and design concepts for their laptops. In addition, Dell is continuously improving its products, attempting to make each model better and faster than the one before it. To achieve more outstanding performance, they enhance their specs and software.
One of the new features is the ability to enjoy a cinematic experience on your Dell XPS laptop via Dell Cinema. It revolutionised the laptop’s sound and colour quality, allowing you to enjoy a better cinematic performance from the Dell XPS notebook. Furthermore, Dell created improvements that result in an outstanding performance, stunning appearance, and high-quality construction materials in Dell Inspiron and Vostro laptops.
Meanwhile, the HP brand remains a hardware development leader, and the company continues to produce unique and exciting products. HP is well-known for its breakthrough in laptops, desktop computers, scanners and printers. Although HP does not devote its innovative efforts to notebook development, its most recent laptops have advanced features.
The firm pioneered touchscreen technology, and HP today manufactures the finest 2-in-1 computers on the market. They have a large user base, and their sophisticated design has increased their popularity. Despite not being as creative as Dell’s portable laptops, HP laptops are updated by today’s standards.
Customer Support and Affordability
When it comes to customer service, Dell is one of the most dependable laptop manufacturers. Each product is sold with a warranty, and there are no issues with returning it if something goes wrong. Moreover, Dell’s customer support team is quick at assisting its customers in solving their problems. They will explain what you should do and provide you with step-by-step instructions.
Dell’s reliability can also be seen in the option for remote connection. So, if you are unable to resolve a problem, an assistant can connect to your laptop and diagnose the issue. If it doesn’t work, you can take your computer to a Dell service centre. If the specialists there are unable to fix your computer, they will replace it without delay. That is why so many consumers like Dell’s customer service.
HP is also mindful of its customers. As a result, there are numerous methods to contact them if you want technical assistance. For example, you will receive 90 days of free phone assistance and a one-year warranty against hardware failures when you buy a laptop.
You can also contact them through the HP support assistant, social media, and the HP customer support centre. Furthermore, they have a YouTube channel to watch videos that explain how to address various issues. Nonetheless, customers sometimes have to spend excessive time on the phone to resolve their issues. Instead of fixing your problem, HP employees frequently recommend that you update your antivirus software.
Price
Dell laptop prices are comparable to those of other manufacturers. Namely, the firm provides a diverse range of products at various prices. However, the majority of them are reasonably priced. So, if you have a limited budget, Dell is the best option.
Furthermore, Dell sells its laptops through authorised retailers, which helps it to keep costs low. As you may know, Dell makes models in various price ranges, ranging from low-cost devices to high-end gaming laptops. Even this company’s budget laptops can work perfectly. As a result, such investment becomes even more valuable.
Also, Dell is one of the companies that let you design your laptop and personalise its specifications. You can select an operating system, keyboard, and a variety of other features. Of course, it will cost extra to add them, but it will make your laptop stand out.
Typically, Hewlett Packard laptops are more pricy than competitors’ models. There are, however, reasons for this. First, customers must pay for HP’s use of more expensive components and materials. Additionally, HP laptops can only be bought through authorised shops. As a result, they cannot be purchased on the company’s website.
Dell vs HP – Best Laptops For 2021
Best Dell laptops
Dell XPS 13 – See on Amazon Dell’s XPS laptops, with almost borderless displays, say everything about the company’s dedication to innovation and design. This laptop has been improved with a fast 10th Generation Intel Core i7 CPU, more than 12 hours of battery life, a comfortable keyboard, and surprisingly good audio. Dell Inspiron 15 3000 – See on Amazon The Dell Inspiron line is equally appealing as their flagship XPS models because of its thin, light, compact magnesium-alloy design. With a combination of portability, power, and a 15-inch display, this is one of the best Dell business laptops. It is an excellent option for both work and pleasure and for those who cannot justify the more powerful XPS model. Dell Inspiron 14 5000 – See on Amazon The Dell Inspiron 14 5000 lacks the design appeal and strength of the 15 3000 model mentioned above. Still, it does sit well above many other household and mainstream laptops in the same category. As a result, it is best-suited to individuals seeking a relatively affordable laptop that can be easily carried.
Best HP laptops
HP Spectre x360 – See on Amazon HP has expanded their premium line even further with the new Spectre x360, a more robust and feature-rich device than previous ones. This laptop competes with its rivals thanks to its discrete graphics card and fast processor without being excessively hefty and large. HP Envy x360 – See on Amazon With a fast CPU, the possibility of an AMD Ryzen chip, and excellent battery life for those searching for portability, the high performing and small HP Envy lies in the centre of HP’s line of laptops and is more capable of both leisure and business activities. HP Pavilion x360 – See on Amazon The HP Pavilion lacks the build quality of the previous two laptops, and it is not the flashiest laptop in their lineup. Still, it is the best HP laptop for students due to its speed for less money, the capability of handling everyday use and even some light gaming.
Dell Inspiron vs HP Pavilion
When it comes to design, Dell is well ahead of HP, especially when Comparing Dell’s Inspiron to HP’s Pavilion. So that is where Dell is a true leader. The firm has always prioritised using its laptop’s most outstanding hardware components with a great balance between specs and price.
The Main Difference Between Dell and HP Dell laptops are generally thought to be among the best available, even better than HP laptops. HP has several great laptops, but many of its models fall short of competing with other brands. Dell, on the other hand, has a wide range of excellent laptops.
Wrap Up
So, which brand is superior? To answer this question, you must first identify your exact needs.
In this Dell vs HP comparison, we saw that Dell is the way to go if you need an affordable yet dependable laptop. Their laptops are often less expensive, but the quality is still excellent. Also, if you want a gaming laptop or a business laptop, go with this brand. For example, Dell’s Alienware laptop outperforms any HP laptop in terms of gaming capability.
However, if you require a good balance of mighty power and price, Hewlett Packard laptops are the way to go. They provide you with a beautiful design and powerful hardware.
Which Brand is Better? [2022]
Dell and HP are two of the old dependable brands that most people consider when thinking about purchasing a computer or laptop. And as of 2021, they still offer some of the best options around.
Of course, with Apple becoming increasingly popular and Lenovo becoming the businessman’s laptop of choice, there are a lot more brands to consider than just these two.
However, many people have used these brands for years, and have become attached to them for several different reasons – customer service and lots of parts available being just a few.
But if you’re looking to purchase a Dell or a HP laptop, which is going to be the best option? Well, let’s take a look at the two brands to see how they compare.
Dell vs HP – Which brand is better?
Generally, Dell computers are some of the best available and are considered to be better than HP. Though HP have some great laptops, across their whole range there are many that can’t compete with other brands. Whereas Dell have a pretty great range of laptops across the board.
Both Dell and HP are two American companies, with HP being headquartered in California, whilst Dell headquarters is in Texas. Although Dell is still relatively young (founded in the 80s), HP were formerly Hewlett-Packard, which was founded back around the time of the second world war.
Deciding which brand to opt for out of the two can be quite difficult. However, it’s not impossible. So, let’s take a look at the two brands and see what they are are made of.
Dell
Recommended Dell Model – The Dell XPS 13
The best Dell model for the majority of people is going to come from their XPS range – we’re treating Alienware as a completely separate company, even though they are owned by Dell.
The Dell XPS 13 is available in a variety of different models – you can purchase it in the standard model, but it’s also available as a convertible 2-in-1 laptop too.
The 13 refers to the screen size (13.4 inches), and it’s also available with a 15 inch and a 17 inch screen too for those that need something larger. Whilst it’s not actually a gaming laptop, it is powerful enough for casual gaming, which most laptops aren’t capable of.
The XPS isn’t new to the market by any means – it’s been improved and tweaked over the last few decades. In terms of design, it’s hard to find a laptop that can beat its lightweight and sleek look.
The standard model comes with an i5 processor, 8GB of RAM and a 512GB SSD for your files. However, you can upgrade this pretty easily to an i7 processor and 16GB of RAM for not much more – this would be a good choice for those looking for a more premium model.
For those looking for a Windows laptop for general use, then you’re going to find it pretty hard to beat the new XPS 13. It has pretty much everything that most people need, and it’s undeniably one of the top models in terms of design and appearance.
Design
Although personally I’ve never found Dell laptops to be amazing visually, many people like their simplistic design. The XPS series follows the same sturdy and simple build that we’ve seen become successful with the Lenovo Thinkpad.
So it’s clear that nowadays users want a combination of design and power, with a greater emphasis on power. Dell does have some really nice alternative models too, like the Inspiron range, which is worth checking out if you want something nice to look at and easy to use.
Build Quality & Hardware
New Dell laptops are coming with at least 8GB of RAM combined with a quadcore processor. They generally offer pretty strong performance across the board.
In the newest models, it seems that most of the new Dell laptops come with Intel Core i7 processors as opposed to Core i5 processors. Most HP laptops come with an i5 processor at a base level, and even the Macbook Air came with an i3 processor until their upgrade to M1 this year.
So, it’s clear that this is another area where Dell are only dealing in top quality processors. It’s unlikely you’ll find a no dual core processor with your Dell laptop.
We can also consider Dell’s other brand, Alienware, in this argument too. They’re pretty much all high end laptops that come with premium prices. So, it’s fair to say that they have maybe the best build quality out of any laptop out there right now (but also probably the most expensive across the board too).
Display
There’s a battle going on between Apple and Dell for the best display out of the big laptop brands. Whilst the Macbook is well known for having a high quality retina display, the new high end XPS series at least matches them in this regard.
When you combine the display with the integrated graphics card, then you’re going to get a great viewing experience. The fact that they specialise in monitors as well is likely a big factor in their focus on display quality.
You can pretty easily upgrade to a 4K display with Dell and their XPS range, or within their Inspiron range in certain models too. Honestly, this will probably be overkill for 95% of people, but designers may want to consider it.
Performance
Dell have some of the best performing laptops currently available, and they have done for a long time. Whilst they never quite reach the top for customer satisfaction, they’re always above average for performance.
This is because most Dell laptops use high quality fast processors and larger RAM than some of its cheaper competitors. Generally, they’re a bad choice when it comes to budget laptops, as many of their models are focussed on maximum performance at a higher cost.
Durability
For those looking for a laptop that will last, Dell isn’t a bad choice. Along with the good customer service most Dell laptops come with a comprehensive warranty, though this typically isn’t necessary for most people.
Battery Life
Dell laptops, on average, are very similar to that of most other premium brands. You’re probably going to get around 7-8 hours of battery life out of a full charge.
You might get more than this if you opt for a premium model like something from the Dell XPS series. But because many of their designs tend to have a high resolution and in some cases a touch screen, battery life can suffer.
Customer Service & Warranty
If customer service is important to you, then Dell is definitely going to be the best choice for you. Aside from probably Apple (who’s customer service blows everyone else out of the water completely), Dell are known for having extensive warranties that you can trust.
Customer support is definitely something you’ll want to think about. Generally, Dell have above average support not only in the US, but across the world.
Price
The main issue that many people have with Dell and their subsidiary is the price. Although the laptops are good quality and they work well, you often end up paying more than you would with a cheaper brand.
However if price isn’t too much of an issue, then it would make sense to opt for a Dell laptop in terms of reliability. But for a bargain, honestly they’re probably the last brand that I would look at.
Dell Alienware Series
It’s also worth mentioning the Dell Alienware series. Some people aren’t aware, but Dell actually own the company Alienware too. This is a specialist company who are usually the first option people look for when hunting for a new gaming laptop.
They tend to deal in more expensive models, with full Nvidia Geforce GTX graphics cards and a good combination of Intel and AMD quad core processors too. They’re definitely worth investigating if you’re looking for a gaming laptop.
HP
Best HP Model – The HP Spectre x360
Most people would agree that one of the best HP series to be released is the Spectre series. It’s very similar to the Envy series, however generally it has a larger trackpad and has slightly larger capabilities than the Envy equivalent. The Spectre is more for business use, whereas the Envy is a better choice for gamers.
One reason why the x360 has proved to be so popular is because of the battery life. You can easily get 10 hours of life out of a full battery with the x360, which is an improvement compared to most other laptops available.
If you want a laptop with high performance and capabilities, then the x360 might be a good choice for you. For those looking for a convertible laptop, it’s definitely one of the best choices currently available.
Whilst the base model has everything most will need, many will want to upgrade to the 16GB RAM option. It also has a 4K AMOLED Gorilla Glass screen, with an i7 Processor and up to 1TB of storage space. It’s another awesome laptop worth considering.
Design
The design of HP laptops is pretty standard – they don’t offer anything different in comparison to what else is out there. They do have some attractive models, and it’s typically easy to use their trackpad with its large design.
They typically have a plain black or Chrome design, so whilst they’re plain, they are quite good if you’re looking for something professional.
It’s pretty easy to find laptops made by HP that are made across the entire market. So whether you’re looking for a 2-in-1 or a regular laptop, HP have a variety of different designs to choose from.
Build Quality & Hardware
If we’re talking in terms of build quality, then it’s fair to say that across the board that HP are a little bit behind Dell. Whilst they do have some really well made laptops, they’re not quite on the same level as Dell.
But, like Dell they tend to use Nvidia Geforce graphics card in their higher end models, and especially in their gaming line, the HP Omen. I’ve actually been really impressed with the HP Omen line in recent years, and it’s definitely one of the top options for those looking for lower priced gaming laptops.
Performance
The performance of higher range HP laptops is great – looking at the Envy line and then Spectre line, they are both going to perform well over a long period of time.
However, the issue with HP comes with their cheaper models, which are expensive for the specifications, and more likely to break. Whilst HP do make some of the top laptops, they also make up some of the worst ones as well.
Durability
Durability is one area where HP get a lot of complaints. There are many stories online of people purchasing a HP laptop and it degrading within the first year or two.
This is why a warranty is so important with any new laptop. Although you should be fine with a HP laptop, they aren’t quite on the same level as Dell.
Battery Life
In general, HP laptops have a decent enough battery life. It’s hard to say across the board, but any of their laptops should last you for at least a full 8 hours of use. Generally, HP state that their laptop batteries should be good for over a thousand full charges.
This means that for even daily uses, it should be pretty good for almost three years. However, there are those that have found their HP laptop battery to start getting weaker before then.
Customer Service & Warranty
Whilst the HP customer service isn’t as bad as some of the cheaper brands around, it’s definitely nowhere near the same quality as Dell. It can be cumbersome trying to get through to their support team, which no-one wants or needs when they have issues with their laptop.
So if customer service is of the utmost importance to you, then opt for Dell or Apple. They provide a better support for new laptops overall.
Price
Probably the most common criticism you’ll hear people say about HP is that they are overpriced. Of course, this really depends what model of laptop that you opt for. As with any brand, you’re going to find good and bad options.
However with HP, it does seem like their cheapest options are still pretty expensive, and they’re not good value for money. If you want a cheaper option, opt for ASUS.
Conclusion
All in all, I think it’s fair to say that most people (including me) think that Dell make the better laptop. There are some models of HP that I like, like the Spectre series, however many of their laptops are overpriced for the specs that you’re getting. Another good HP series is the HP Pavilion, which I featured in my list of the best 14 inch laptops.
And although Dell is quite expensive too, you get a much more reliable machine with Dell. Plus, across the entire range of Dell models, there aren’t too many which haven’t proven to be a success. So, if you’re trying to decide between these two brands, then I’d undoubtedly opt for Dell.
Dell vs HP: Which Laptop Brand is Better?
When purchasing a computer or laptop, most people consider Dell and HP. They both remain the best options on the market.
Brands like Dell and HP have gained loyal followings from years of use. Several reasons account for their popularity – particularly the service they offer and the number of parts. In the era of Apple’s increasing popularity and Lenovo as the choice of business people, it is not enough to limit yourself to these two brands.
What would be the best option between a Dell and an HP when purchasing a laptop?
Let’s look at the two brands side by side to know which one is better.
About Dell Laptops
Dell has been making laptops since 1984, and it has become one of the most recognized brands in the computer industry. With their Inspiron brand laptops, you can get a high-quality laptop at an affordable price, even if your budget is less than $800.
Dell’s XPS series of laptops exemplify the company’s commitment to innovation and design by offering almost borderless displays.
About HP Laptops
The most popular laptop brand in the tech industry was founded in 1939 by William Hewlett and David Packard. HP offers a variety of laptop models with varying specifications at varying prices.
Unlike other brands such as Dell or Lenovo, HP brand laptops aren’t as well-built, but they are well-known for producing high-quality products at affordable prices.

Dell laptops are generally thought of as better than HP laptops and are some of the best on the market. However, HP has a variety of laptops that cannot compete with other brands across their entire range.
Dell, on the other hand, possesses a wide range of laptops. In addition to Dell, HP is a major American company, with its headquarters in California, while Dell is headquartered in Texas.
Dell is a relatively new company, but HP has been around since World War II, also known as Hewlett-Packard.
Out of the two brands, choosing one can be quite challenging. Nevertheless, there is no need to be discouraged. Let’s check out how the two brands are made by examining them in detail.
Gaming Laptops
The HP Pavilion and the HP Omen are HP laptops for gamers. Gamers will not be able to use gaming laptops from these brands for everyday use, but they can still be used for casual gaming, though are designed to run any game without lagging.
Besides, one of Dell’s most popular gaming laptop series is Alienware. It offers powerful features, extensive customization, and extraordinary graphics.
Gamers will enjoy everything the laptop offers without experiencing lags.
Dell laptops are preferable to HP laptops for gamers because they are faster and have better graphics cards, but they come with a higher price tag.
Business Laptops
You can find a wide variety of slimline HP laptops that make excellent business laptops. Several of these laptops have touchscreens and are convertible into tablet computers.
On your daily commute on the train, you can show others what you’ve been working on and accomplish while sharing your work with others.
If a company does not have IT support, they can call Dell for any IT-related questions. Moreover, Dell has powerful laptops suitable for business people and designers. Because Dell laptops have powerful processors and specialized support, it is the better choice for business laptops.
Studying Laptops
Laptops from HP have excellent battery life, often lasting for up to 12 hours on a single charge, and are usually equipped with three or four-cell batteries.
Most HP laptop models have a minimum storage capacity of 256GB, generally sufficient for most users. For example, Dell’s Latitude 9510 laptop has an 18-hour battery life. In comparison to HP models, base Dell laptops typically have less storage than HP models, starting at 128GB.
Most students would exhaust the storage space on their laptops pretty quickly simply by downloading the Windows suite and putting their files on it. In general, HP’s products are the best in terms of studying. Battery life remains decent, and ample storage for software and documents.
Budget Laptops
Dell and its subsidiary are notorious for their high prices, which are many people’s biggest complaints. Despite the laptops’ good quality and good performance, you will often find that the price is higher than for a cheaper model.
However, a Dell laptop would make sense if the price isn’t too important in terms of reliability. I would probably look at someone else’s brand if I were looking for a bargain.
You’ll hear that one of HP’s most common faults is that its products are overpriced. Which laptop model you choose will determine whether this is the case.
You will inevitably encounter good and bad products with any brand. However, the cheapest HP options can still be quite expensive, and they aren’t good value for money. So, consider ASUS as a less expensive option.
Design
Despite my dislike of Dell laptops visually, many people find them appealing. Like the Lenovo Thinkpad series, the XPS series is built on a basic, sturdy design. As a result, designers and power users want devices that combine design and power.
It is worth checking out Dell’s Inspiron line if you look for something beautiful and easy to use. Besides, HP laptops are pretty average in design as they don’t stand out from any other laptop.
Their large trackpad has some attractive features and is easy to use. Although they are plain, they are perfectly suited for professionals who require something professional.
In general, HP laptops are widely available, regardless of the market. No matter what kind of laptop you’re looking for, HP has a wide selection to choose from.
Build Quality & Hardware
In addition to a quad-core processor, Dell laptops now have at least 8GB of RAM. Their overall performance is generally pretty good.
New Dell laptops appear to be more likely to feature Core i7 than Core i5 processors. A base-level HP laptop has an i5 processor, and the MacBook Air used to have an i3 processor until it was upgraded to an M1 recently.
So, we can conclude that Dell deals only with the highest quality processors. Your Dell laptop is unlikely to come with a dual-core processor. This argument can also apply to Alienware, one of Dell’s brands.
The laptops are all fairly high-end and highly expensive. As such, they offer one of the highest quality laptops currently available. Further, HP tends to lag behind Dell in building quality across the board.
The company does make some good laptops, but not quite at the level of Dell. In their gaming line, the HP Omen, they use GeForce graphics cards, like Dell. Over the past few years, HP’s Omen line has been a great option for those seeking a less expensive gaming laptop.
Performance
Dell budget laptops perform fairly poorly when it comes to performance. For the same price, other budget laptops can perform better. Considering Dell’s aim for maximum performance, their high-performance laptops tend to be expensive.
Dell’s high-performance laptops are therefore only affordable to those with a budget. With Dell laptops, you’ll get a high-performance processor, large RAM, and legendary support. These laptops don’t look very good and don’t feel as durable.
Besides, Alienware by Dell is an entirely different matter. We consider it the best laptop available today. 5.3 GHz is their maximum speed. Their performance-oriented products feature 4K displays, 32GB RAM, and top-quality components.
Further, when choosing between HP and Dell, it is also important to consider battery life. Regardless of the brand, individuals who purchase laptops should check their battery life. You won’t be carrying chargers everywhere you go. You will not be able to use your laptop if it has a weak battery.
Two years is the average lifespan of a battery. Battery life will vary based on the age and use of the laptop and charging frequency. Due to heat or heavy usage, Dell’s lithium-ion batteries swell.
Laptop batteries from Dell last an average of 18 to 24 months. Battery life decreases with prolonged use. Regardless, Hewlett Packard’s battery is as good as Dell’s. Often lasting between 2 and 4 years, HP batteries are exceptional.
In addition, HP uses a durable battery, which you can recharge in just 30 minutes. There is no overheating of the HP battery. Using your HP battery can drain it faster if you forget to plug it in.
Durability
Dell is an excellent choice if you’re looking for a long-lasting laptop. Dell laptops generally have an extensive warranty, though most people do not need them. Besides, HP gets lots of complaints about its durability.
