Windows XP or Windows 2000 allows users the option to customize the save dialog box. This can be done by using a third party software or even manually. Software such as Tweak UI offers an easy to understand user-friendly graphical user interface that can be used to customize the left column that contains the default shortcuts for Recent Documents, My Documents, My Computer and My Network. If the save dialog box has to be customized manually, a new key has to be introduced in the Windows Registry with the name of Comdlg32 and value PlacesBar.
