Black Friday phone deals have been coming thick and fast, but I think Vodafone and Fonehouse have just beaten everyone by a country mile. If I weren’t six months into a contract, I’d be first in line for this phone deal: a human embodiment of the “shut up and take my money” meme. From today until Monday 26 November, Fonehouse is selling Vodafone contracts with 100GB data for £36 per month . That in itself is pretty incredible value, but it’s the handsets that you get free of charge with the deal which really sweetens things. You have your pick of the iPhone XR, Huawei Mate 20 Pro and the Samsung Galaxy S9+. There are others (Xperia XZ3, iPhone 8, etc) but these are the ones you should pay attention to. Why? Because getting these free on contract is unheard of, unless you’re willing to pay upwards of £45 per month. And that would be for a measly amount of data. One hundred gigabytes, on the other hand, is as close to “unlimited” as makes no difference to most people. As we explain elsewhere , 1GB of data only gets you around four hours of 480p YouTube or 16 hours of Spotify music. But multiply that by 100 and you’ll see why this is a deal even the most data-hungry of people can get behind. To save you doing the maths in your head, £36 for 24 months comes to a total of £864. Below are the handsets we know are in the deal against their current RRP in descending order so you can make an informed choice. Huawei Mate 20 Pro ( review ) – £899 Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus ( review ) – £869 Samsung Galaxy Note 8 ( review ) – £869 Huawei P20 Pro ( review ) – £799 iPhone XR 64GB ( review ) – £749 Samsung Galaxy S9 ( review ) – £739 Sony Xperia XZ3 ( review ) – £699 iPhone 8 Plus 64GB ( review ) – £699 iPhone 8 64GB ( review ) – £599 Our pick is definitely the Mate 20 Pro or iPhone XR then. The latter may not be the priciest, but Apple products maintain their price in a way that makes it a (more) solid long-term investment. Buy now from Fonehouse
